Assistant Band Director
Jessica Burmingham recently earned a Master of Music degree with an emphasis in Instrumental Conducting from Arkansas State University where she has served for the past two years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the A-State Bands. In this capacity, she served as a Graduate Associate Conductor of the A-State Wind Ensemble and Assistant Director of the Howlers Basketball Band. In addition, she assisted with teaching several other ensembles within the Department of Music, including the 200 member Sound of the Natural State Marching Band.
Prior to her time at Arkansas State University, Ms. Burmingham served for five years as the Director of Bands at Rivercrest High School in Wilson, AR. Her responsibilities included leading all aspects of the band program and teaching courses in Music Theory, Music Technology, and History of Rock Music. Ensembles under her direction frequently earned top ratings and were named best in their class on numerous occasions. The Rivercrest Marching Colts were twice named Class AA Champions at the Arkansas Open Marching Band Championships under her direction. Her high school concert band was also awarded the Class A Championship at the Smoky Mountian Music Festival in Gatlinburg, TN. In addition, her high school jazz band was frequently invited to perform for community organizations including the Rotary Club of Osceola and the Mississippi County Retired Teachers Association.
She has also served as a Director's Teaching Assistant at the Music for All Summer Symposium in Muncie, IN and as a member of the logistical staff for the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, IN.
